Do you think this would work????

I was thinking about the TPI to carb swap and was wondering if this would work, what do you think?
Insted of getting the AFPR and using the factory high press. pump couldn't you just drop the tank remove the factory pump and install a pump from a TBI car and use a regular fuel regulator( being that a TBI pump puts out 12-15 psi thenregulate it down to 5-7 psi ) that way you can keep all the wiring without splicing for an inline electric pump. Tell me what you think....

It's been done before, and it seems to work out quite well.

u still need the mallory 3-port regulator for a tbi pump. why don't u just put and inline pump in and cut power to the intank pump cause sometimes it will pull threw the pump. and if not then u gotta drop the tank

Why would i need the Mallory 3 port regulator?
I called Street and Performance and they said it would work fine all i would have to do is plug up the return line and connect the feed line to a regular regulator and leave the vent line alone.
just out of curiosity why would i need the Mallory regulator?
Maybe you know something they don't or you tried this before or something like that.
Don't get me wrong I'm not tryin to be a smart @$$ I just want to know...
Thanks guys and gals

u need the regulator because tbi pumps put out lik 9-12 psi and carbs need like 5psi, if u just put a regular regulator on it u will burn out the tbi pump very quickly cause it will be pushin and tryin to flow the gas when the regulator is holdin it back, now with the mallory 3-port it has a return on it so u hook your return line into the reg and all te gas doesn;t need gets put back into the tank so there is no line pressure burnin up the tbi pump. now yes u can just do it the way u are sayin but u are justy gonna be droppin your tank all the time. also if my memory serves me rightu can leave your tpi pump in there and use the mallory 3-port u will just need to make your return line bigger for all the extra gas u are returnin. hope that explains it and good luck
