3.1 to ZZ4 crate
i want to put a zz4 crate engine in my 92 rs that is runing a 3.1 v6
what do i need to do this and how do i keep it emissions legal

Hurdle #1 is the V6 to V8 conversion. Lots of parts to replace. Many posts on that topic for you to look over.
Hurdle #2 is emissions-legal. About the only sane way to do that is with a TPI system.
Final hurdle is the TPI on a ZZ4. There's another post about that, take a look there for that info.
Your best bet would be to find a '92 TPI donor car (although a '91 might suffice). It will have all you need for the V6 to V8 swap, and will at least get you started for the TPI-on-ZZ4 part.
With engine, donor car, TPI upgrade parts, you're probably looking at $6-7k for this, assuming you do all the labor. Is your car worth it? You may be better off selling this car and buying a factory V8 TPI car to put the ZZ4 into.
