Swapping to V8, What do I do about the V6 computer?

I am currently putting a carbureted 350 in my V6 car. I know the computer will not work with the motor, so what do I do about it. Do I have to get a V8 computer? Bypass it?

Depends... is the new engine computer controlled? If not, ditch the computer and get a lockup switch for the tranny.

If Alabama doesn't have an emissions check and inspection or smog test then do what I did with my 86 car axe the computer and the wiring altogether! Mine started life as a v6 multi-port car(WHAT A TURD!!) and is now a 355. I found out that all the wiring that comes out of the firewall on the drivers side is the critical wiring that you need for the car to run, have all lights and all gagues to work. All the wiring on the passenger side that comes up through the fender can be tossed. On my 86 it was all for the sensors, injectors, etc. Youre 83 should be close to an 86.

The only wiring to the AC stuff does not go through the firewall to the ecm on your car, its next to the airbox where the heater and stuff is.

on the carbed swap..you will go from about 700 wires to 7....the old v-8's were fairly simple...if you got gas, and fire its gonna run. Back to basics here....
