Did you know Vortec castings are based upon the LT1 heads (and improved) except they dont have the reverse flow cooling?

yes ive heard that somewhere, im gonna go get a set of head gaskets and see if i can figure out what needs to be done.

"The end result was an increase of 36 hp over the standard ZZ3 H.O. aluminum heads."

If you can't find 36 hp by reworking ZZ3/ZZ4/Vette aluminum heads for less money than modifying LT1 heads will cost you, then you should go back to driving an Accord.

The work that has to be done is detailed in the article you linked. That is extensive work, and unless you're doing it yourself (have a machine shop in your back yard?), it's going to run some serious coin.

No, I don't know exactly what it would cost to do those modifications. Do you?
