Hey my buddy and I were going to by this to do a build up for his 92 RS... What I don't like is the fact that it is already bored, since I would want to get it cleaned up, could it take the minor clean up resurfacing? and without the main caps... Is this a blown block just waiting (or already) to happen?

Ok here is the engine I am thinking about picking up. It will become a supercharged 383, so your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

88/89 Vandura 350, one piece rear main seal, 2 bolt main, dipstick on passenger side, I checked, comes with the rotating assembly (including pan), $100.00… oh by the way it had 87k miles on it. I figure since I have an 88 it would be a great straight replacement.

Is it worth $100.00?

 

about all i'd use it for is a boat anchor. you ought to be able to find a good builder block with caps for 50 dollars.

 

I agree with ede, its pretty much a boat anchor without the caps, would cost too much to have some installed (they generally need to be machined to fit the block correctly).

 

Thanks guys... I have ditched that block... it sent a lot of red flags to me too without the caps and already been bored...

What about the new engine. I will be picking it up tomorrow... A nice supercharged 383 should get me some respect when running with a SS
