I guess my questions would be, what do you want to do,and how fast do you want to go? I think that the 400HP streetmaster with Iron eagle heads would be a good choice, although I think that a 10.5:1 compression is a bit high for a daily driver. The best transmission for the car would be to take the one you have (700-R4) and have a good rebuild put on it. Are you going to keep it throttle body injected? If so, you will need the injectors off of a 350, and will probably have to raise your fuel pressure a little bit. The thing wouldn't make 400 HP either, but would have a good amount of power and good throttle response. Good luck on your engine swap.

Get the 383 with the 200 cc heads. Those 350s with the 150 cc heads are too small. You need at least that much head with the XE 280 cam they have in them. My 170 cc Vortecs can't handle all of that cam very well. It's a shame none of their 383s have 6 in. rods, becasue that would really be the way to go. No point in skimping on the parts now. I like the hardened push rods and screw in studs too. For ~$1000 you can get your tranny built to handle all of that power and then some.

motor

id definitly go with with either a 383 stoker, or a smallblock 400, for a tranny id see if u can get your hands on a turbo400, that would be a nasty set up
