305 TBI to 305 TPI Swap
305 TBI to 305 TPI Swap
Hey everyone, I already have the TPI setup, I would just like to konw what I will need besides the engine wiring harness to convert over to a TPI, the TPI is an 85, the Engine Block is a 90. Do I need a different Cam to expect the same amount of horsepower as the IROC's? or is there a Better cam that I could use to get more HP than the 305 IROC'S?

Some people say the swap is worth it, others say it isn't. I don't know anyone personally that has done the swap so I can't say. My opinion would be to stick the TPI on a 350. Is it a stock tpi, or has it been modded to breath? If you decide to put it on your 305 L03:
TPI is stock and you plan on leaving it that way: You can use the stock TBI cam. The TBI cam is weak hp wise and dies out around 4,500-5,000rpm. A stock TPI can only breath to about 4,500rpm, so it should match up, and you should feel more mid range torque.
TPI is modded to breath or will be in the near future: Swap that old peanut cam out for a real cam!
