I have an 85 firebird s/e 2.8L right now but i may get an 83 trans am without an engine but my have a manual transmission. My question is ... because i need this car to get places can i swap the 2.8 into the t/a without changing the tranny? Im not sure what type of engine it had in it but i am sure it was an 8cyl. Would I would have to change the computers?

if the car had an 8cyl then the bolt patterns are different, if it had a 6cyl and yours is an automatic at least the flywheels are different sometimes the crank is different not allowing an auto engine to be installed with a manual trans
