LT1 accessories Question
LT1 accessories Question
I searched a while on the board and did not find any threads about this.
This has probably been tried, but I have to ask since I cannot find an answer....
It looks like if you got the right belt, you could keep the engine accessories from a TPI and route the belt around the water pump, wouldn't that make the swap very easy?

The pulley on the hub for the LT1 is in a different position from a SBC's. Another thing is GOOD LUCK finding the right belt
. Just get the 4th gen accessories and be done with it! Much easier!

Yes you can ;-). TexasLT1 has it, and I think Matt89RS or something like that has it too. Another kid I talk to has it also, but don't post on the boards. I never tried the swap with AC, but you need slight fabrication.

It can be done; I said it can't be done easily. I just cost money and you have to modify stuff. The modifying part is easy for me but the money part is not what I want to hear. You have to buy a bracket from S&P or March to mount the A/C compressor on the passenger side, from what I have heard, correct me if I am wrong.

You can just smack a dent into the K member and modify the pass engine mount, or get vette accessories, trust me, your in for a lot more trouble than you want trying to put 3rd gen acc's on, I tried for the fun of it...

actually, it really didnt cost all that much more to keep a/c, maybe just another $100-$200 max. the hardest part about it was making the a/c lines and getting them lined up and connected correctly, that took some time and messing around with. since I'm at college right now my dad had a new pressure line made because ours kept blowing off and he is re-flushing the entire system. once all that is done, it should be good to go.
