Trying to pull a 305 out of an 88 firebird. I have everything disconnected. I supproted the tranny. Took the 3 bolts from flywheel to the torque converter on the automatic tranny. Then i removed the bellhousing bolts and tried to hoist the engine and remove it. It won't budge. Is there just two bellhousing bolts on each side or is there more? If so where are they and how can I get to them? Any help will be great. Thank you.

There are 6 (six) bellhousing bolts.
2 on the bottom, 2 straight up from those, and two more right under/behind the heads

the 4 lower bolts can be taken out from underneath.
the top 2 are the worst, you can either clinb into the engine bay, and use a9/16th open wrench(this is what I did) or you can lower the tranny and tilt it, and put a couple long extensions on a ratchet, and get them from underneath.
I would say its easier to get them from the top, you cant get to long of a wrench down there, but if your persistent, and reasonably strong, and the bolts arent super tight, it shouldnt be to much of a problem.

I used a ratcheting 9/16th in box wrench perched on top of the motor. just be patient they r long bolts. putting them back in is deven more fun.
Got them out. Had to remove the wiring harness a little sonner than planned. Time to go sell this beast. Thanks alot for the help.
