What do you guys think of my 5.0?

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 305 TPI. I've put a lot of time and work into it after getting all sorts of suggestions and doing a lot of research. So far I've ported, polished and gasket matched the plenum, intake and heads. Installed a TPIS air foil and gutted the air box. I also purchased a Pocket Programmer and burnt my own chip and made my own AFPR using the Tech Article. Somewhere in my mess I've got an Accel Brute Thunder HEI coil, 8.8mm wires and AC Delco Rapidfire plugs. I ordered the Summit TPI Cam (204/214 @ .050) and a B&M 2400 stall TC last night and should have them in a few days. I was going to get some headers, but I'm almost tapped out. The rest of the specs are in the sig. I'm curious to know how much HP and what kind of times I'll get with this little 305. Let me know what you guys think.

P.S. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!

i would guess around 240-250, which isn't bad, more than any stock 350tpi!. And the Torque converter and shiftkit help get more to the ground.

I wouldnt skip the headers if at all possible. You can get headman headers and y pipe for a little over 200 I believe.

yeah, to get the most out of it you NEED headers!

the stock exhaust manifolds are too large of a restriction

Okay, I found some Hedman headers from $109.99 from Summit. I'm sure I can squeeze that into my next purchase. But are these actually going to be worth a sh**? And am I still going to be emissions legal? The headers I found are part # HED-68470. Are these worth it?

You will also need the y pipe which is supposed to be $98. It is here http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=15655 It is part number HED-17470. From what I hear they are supposed to be pretty decent.

Just make sure that the y pipe matches up with the headers. I believe that heddman only offers a y pipe for a few of their headers. You will just have to match up the numbers. Other wise you might have to get a custom y pipe like I had to.
Good luck

the y pipe says that it is made for the part number that he showed on headers.

Ok, well instead of installing the new Accel coil I've decided to stick with the MSD coil that I had in it before. I'll send the coil and the airfoil back. Since everyone keeps pushing me for headers and deleting a few things. That should give me enough money. I've found an even cheaper pair (if you can't tell I'm trying to go ACAP) from and by Summit (SUM-G9005). Don't know about a Y-pipe though. From what they said, I'll just have to mod the existing one to make it work?!? Only thing is that I'm trying to keep the car emissions legal. That's the only downfall about Phoenix .... besides the hot a$$ summers (but that's what A/C's for). Right now I'm just looking forward to putting as much as I can into the car. What type of HP and times do you think I'd be looking at now? I'll get some pics up as soon as I find my damn camera. All I want to do is drive my baby again and eat some rice while doing it. Thanks for the help!!

I would get headers that you can get a premade y pipe for otherwise you will have to have an exhaust shop make it which will cost you too. How are emissions down there. Do they do visual or just sniffer or what?

That's what I started thinking last night, so I've got the coil and airfoil on it's way back and got a set of Hedman headers and a Y-pipe on it's way. I've only been here 3 years, so I'm not sure how strict they are on emissions. My '98 Camaro SS never had to be inspected and the '86 was registered in Utah (no emissions). I ran it through once to register it here and they did a visual, sniffed it and pressure tested the gas cap and tank. I failed because of the gas cap and cat. I replaced the cat, gas cap, put the belt back on the pump. Not long after that, the 5.0 through a rod. I'm guessing their pretty strict, so I need to keep the car legal.
