newbie to swapping...some Q's
hey all
im kinda new to this so here goes
im thinking of two things:
1) go to a junkyard, buy a fuel injected 5.7L and rebuild it over afew months then drop it in
2) buy my friends blazer with a 327 with round 50K on it for 6 or 7 thousand dollars...
how much would option one cost me for just the engine...gimmie just an idea
which idea do you think is wiser?

first off, dont buy a blazer for 7grand for just the engine.
You can get a 430hp ready to run GM warranted brand new crate motor for less than 5K.
a fuel injected 5.7(with the FI on it) will cost you around 500$$ running, ive never priced out a bad motor, but it could probably be had for dirt cheap.
I explored the 2nd option, but in the end, what I did was a lot cheaper.
I went to a local engine shop. I bought a 350 kit, the rotating assembly was put together. all I had to do was install the cam, heads, timing gear, oil pump, gaskets.
How much?? 1100$$
I ended up paying another 500$$ for the carb, intake, distributor, headers..
another 300$$ in micilaneous suff.
