Grab the car that had the V8 in it from the factory and leave them your car.

i highly agree. Deposit that pile of twisted scrap at the yard and get another w/ a v8 thats still intact. Your really subjecting yourself to an uphill battle with a wrecked v6 car.

the thing is tho my car is a twisted pile of metal. all it needs is a hood, bumper cover and headlight support. i found i wrecked 91 bird with an lg4 in it for 300 that runs but wont drive. the stuff i need should fit from bird to camaro right?

I think what everyone else is getting at though is with thirdgen F-bodies people, most of us, want our cars to look good, go fast, and handle well. With a v6, and it wrecked, you're not even starting out with either of the three. The springs are weaker on the v6 along with skinier sway bars and a poor rearend. You would have to replace all of the above and then some! Don't forget new motor mounts, better tranny, etc. (Now the funny thing is I started out with a V8 bird and am still replacing all of the above mentioned when going with a big block.) At any rate, I believe that is what they are mentioning with they say it's an up hill battle. My advice is this. Find a car that at the least handles well, looks like you want it to, runs like you want it to, or has a nice interior. Because if you get a car and you're not satisfied with any of the above, well let me just say I hope you have a FAT wallet full of 100's...$$$$$$$ That is my 2 cents.

I don't make sense of your logic guys... most of us buy these cars and swap a bigger v8 into them (i.e. 305 to 350, etc). come along with that we tend to upgrade the chassis with new, better parts like springs, struts, rear suspension components.... so I don't know what the problem really is, it is going to happen anyway, catch my drift? And what the hell, swapping a motor is easy as hell!! give me one full day, a 12 pack and a friend and im set

If you can do the v-6 to v-8 swap in one day, my hat is off to ya...:hail: ..You do relise, everything that attaches to the motor has to be changed in some way..exhaust, fuel system, radiator, brake lines, motormounts, tranny, sway bar, front springs, hoses belts....tons of wires to remove...gauges......Sure it can be done, but it is alot easier and economical if you start out with a v-8 car. Take it from someone that has done the swap.
How about some misinformation... whoa...
First, put the V6 back together and sell it.
Second, figure out exactly what you want
Third save money
Fourth, buy what you want.
Otherwise you can have fun with the V6, but you'll be looking at a good bit of work. You need (at the least) the engine, accessories, tranny, fuel pump, induction, etc.
The guages, and suspension will all work OK with a V8, but upgrading would probably be a good idea.
In my opinion a V6 car is not a good starting place for a project. But it is possible.

Despite the rest of the ppl here, im just finishing up on an 89 firebird that had a 2.8 in it, the 350 is in and mostly bolted up. Bought IROC springs off ebay for $5, got a radiator for nothing, took a wreaked 86 girlinetta and took the front brakes/mounts
