motor mounts on LT1
We are about to start putting a '95 LT1 in my '92. Which is easier, altering the third gen mount to fit the LT1 or using the caprice mount mentioned by HP Salvage and moving the frame mount further back on the crossmember? Does anyone sell a mound ready to go? I would pay good money for one. I am kinda in a hurry. Any help from y'all would be good. Everyone here is so helpful. I really hope I can contribute once I have learned more.

sure, go ahead and try moving that frame mount back. after reading on here about that and looking in trying to even find the backsides of the bolts on the mount, I said screw it. its going to be a LOT easier to modify the 3rd gen mount. I take it you are doing this for a/c? basically just take a big grinder to the front of the mount and grind down the corner until it just clears the compresso, but dont take off anymore than you need to. e-mail me with any more questions

One person I talked to said he used the caprice mount in his swap. I however used my stock 3rd gen and modified it by the pics on hpsalvage. I also used a grinder to cut the frame. Here is a pic of how I got the measurment correct.

well i was doing this myself, but it was over my head so now i am paying someone else to finish. i am researching this stuff for him. i trust your opinions on this site, and appriciate all you have. he thinks it will be easier to mone the mount. yes i am doing this for ac. anyone else got an opinion?
is it a friend that is doing this for a set amount of money or a shop that is charging labor? if its a shop, the reason he thinks its going to be easier to move the mount is because its going to take so much longer. it seriously took us about 2 hours tops to modify the mount and the crossmember and we were done. just leave the compressor mounted to the acc. bracket and keep working on the mount until you can get the holes to line up. after that we moved the engine into the bay and lowered it until the compressor was just contacting the crossmember, measured the differences, cut once, welded once, done. its really not that hard.

its a friend that i am paying. he has a shop and i am paying full rate, but he is a TRUE friend and does want to save me money. im not sury why he thinks it is easier to move it than fabricate. he thinks that once its on the hoist it will be easy to relocate i guess.
what do you think?
