need help with 305 to 383 swap

i'm about to drop in a 383 in my 92 z28 and i have a few questions. i already bought all new intake and 24# injectors and i'm going to get slp headers and a custom chip, what else do i need that i can't use from my 305? and where can i get a custom chip that won't cost me as much as headers? thanks

You gotta get a new knock sensor and I think an O2 sensor. <---- Not sure on the O2 though.

Dont need the o2 sensor, same same.

As for the chip, go order one from a dealer for a 350. It'll be a good starting point. Beyond that, you really should burn your own chips. If you really dont want to go that route, I'd suggest contacting fastchips.

92TPIZ28...

I am in plans for the EXACT same swap... I want to take out the 305 from my 92z (might be a swapped 350.. LOOOONG story) but i want to replace the 305 with a miniram'd 383 and i am just wondering if you are gonna show your progress or something of that sort... I am just learning how to do engine work and it would be a great deal of help if you could let me know what things you needed new and what you kept from the 305 to how well the swap went

No big deal if your not keep records or such, but it would be awesome if you could get some pictures of your progress. You can contact me by email if you want at ampatel1@vt.edu

Thanks again, i am def gonna keep this post if it goes anywhere

A 383 is technically not legal no matter where you go, its a non-existant engine. However, what tech is going to verify the stroke? Externally it looks like a 350, except maybe the balancer and flexplate, depending on the crank you choose to use. Its pretty easy to get away with.

I dont know about most people here but i would guess a good amount of everyone on these boards knows someone how can get them through inspection....

I went to a place asking about buying headers, and the guy tells me "get headers without air, i'll pass you on inspection" i was like ok... I live in NY and we do have some hefty regulations
