You could always find a 3800 supercharged out of a pontiac bonnevile SSEi or grand prix gtp. Or maybe a 4.3 out of an S10 and work with that. The 3.8 would be a bit more performance oriented though.

cool, you might want to ask that question in the v6 board, i am sure you could put a turbo on that engine..

insurance wouldnt know you have an 8 cyl.
they go by the vin # so if the vin says its a 6 banger, you are charged for a 6, throw in an 8.
gas milage will drop some but if its well tuned and in good order, you can still get great gas milage from an 8 cylinder engine.

Three things. First grab a totaled buick grand national with that 3.8 turbo system that they have, those are easily modded and are strong V6's. Second, I've heard that motor that you currently have has a WEAK crank and any mods could snap it. Third I recomend Torq Thrust II rims, I have them on my '86 Firebird and people stop me all the time and tell me how great they look on the car... (that is when it was running )

i have been looking into all possible motors i can pop in my car, but this guy is so makeing me not want to do it, keeps saying u should buy a next trans am with a 8 it not woth it bla bla bla. in a why he is right. and if i went to a 8 i would be stuck with a lg4 and a stupid carb again, i hate those things >i always flood it! so i think i came up with a good plane, keep this money and save till next winter so i can get a GTA or TTA fully loaded leather and all>thats my dream car. and do u have a pick of those rims? thanks

Can't go wrong with the GN drivetrain. They take a lot of abuse. The GN drivetrain may be pricy. If you wanna go cheaper find a 4.1 v6 out of either an olds, buick or caddy 80-84(preferrably 83-84). Then just look for the induction system you can find them all over www.turbobuick.com or www.gnttype.org. The crank and rods are great factory pieces, bore it .025 over and you get a 4.00 in. bore(lotta pistons available). Find a set of 86-89 fwd heads off of a Buick skylark/skyhawk,etc. You'll be able to keep your a/c that way. The swap could be done for $2500 or less. You'll need a decent fuel pump to feed it as well as the LC2 ecm and a wiring harness(will cost more if you get the TTA harness(www.johnsperformance.com). hope this helps....

if you want to stay with a V6, which is not a bad idea, and more and more performance parts are becoming available. I would strongly suggest getting a wrecked GTP. the engine will hook up to a 700R4 tranny, and you can use the same computer and everything and still get decent gas milage.
GTP's have been modded and run 11.78's in the 1/4. So i think that is the way togo if you want to stay with a V6. I love the idea of a Buick GN driveline, but it would be a lot more expensive then a GTP driveline.
