Welcome aboard.
Question: Why do you want to go with an aftermarket carb? If this is a daily driver, what you've got can't be beat. An aftermarket carb certainly isn't going to give you more power than the q-jet is capable of, or better driveability or gas mileage. Don't forget you'll also need a non-CC distributor with a non-CC carb - more $'s for zero improvement.
Upgrade your exhaust (headers, high-flow y-pipe, cat & cat-back), upgrade your air cleaner (dual snorkel), upgrade your ignition (coil, module) - That's all you really need to do for the 305-350 swap.
Oh, those things are a good idea for a 305. The 350 just makes it more important to do them. The carb and distributor will be fine, though.

well the tranny should be fine, the 700r4 can handle the power of a 350 well..
hows the tranny shift now, if it slips now you might want to rebuilt it..
