TPI swap

i recently bought and blew up, an 85 TA. it was originally a TPI car that was swaped for a carberated engine. (by a total idiot i might add) i just rebuilt the carb engine, and bored it over .030, and now im wanting to go back to TPI, what all will i need? do i have to have new heads? ill definatly need new wiring, as mine was all choped off by the fire wall, i dont even have wipers, fog lights, and for some reason my headlights dont shut off after being on unless i pull the fuse. maybe someone could help with that to. ne way, all help is greatly appreciated.

No. You can bolt the TPI manifold to other heads. Think about how all the guys with their street rods but TPI on the 68 camaro's and in old trucks and stuff. If you want, you can put a better set of heads on it, but you don't have to. What heads are on the car now? Are they centerbolts? I doubt it b/c its an 85, but if so, pull off one of the valve covers and get the casting number off the head.

first off, by center bolt, do you mean the way the valve covers bolt on, or the way the heads bolt down. if its the valve covers than no, they're not. allso, the engine isnt actually an 85, it is probably close to 10 years older, maybe more. and allso, if they r center bolts, than whats with the casting #, can i get a tpi setup to fit them or what. ne way, if i get heads out of a junk yard and just get bigger valves and port em how well would that work.

Well, look for a set of heads with casting number .....083. They're the best flowing iron head. If you want to go all out, find a set of aluminum vette heads. I'd keep the stock valve size unless you'll be running a monster cam. I ported my iron heads myself and they've got stock size valves. I don't know how much more power I got from them b/c the motor isn't in the car yet. Have the heads professionally rebuilt before you install them. If you get the heads the TPI will bolt up, but you don't NEED to replace the heads. TPI will bolt up to your heads that you have now. Are you looking to buy a TPI setup? If so, I have one for sale. Let me know.
