Last night i was fortunate enough to run into someone that hads done the same swap that i have been thinking of doing. He put the buick 3.8 motor in a fbody(similar to the turbo ta). Man did this car haul ***!! With a best of 10.72@127.5 mph this car really strolled down the road. He was running 116 race gas but man did the power come on strong and never left. This car has so much torque it was unbelievable. He stated that it had made over 520hp at the tires with over 650 ft. lbs. of torque and this car was virtually silent sitting at idle(gotta love turbos). After the ride last night i now feel that doing the conversion to my 90 IROC is definaitly the way to go. Yes the motor was built to the turbo ta specs and he had the ta heads with the pistons and said that it wasn't to much of a pain in the *** with the exception of finding a couple key parts, but he had some hook-ups to help me out when i need it later. Just felt like sharing my experience with everyone since i have been thinking of doing this conversion now for a while.

 

That would have been a sweet ride, but don't think you can run 10's, like he did, without spending MAJOR $$$ (probably around 8-10,000 just on the motor.) Then the driveline (tranny, rearend, suspension, driveshaft, etc.) has to be redone to handle all of that power. Good luck!

 

U said that the guy gave u "hook ups" tell me who he refered u to and where to get what? I'm planning this turbo swap in my S10. I wanna do this so i can bag a few V8 cars with a V6.
