2 Piece Rear Main to ONE Piece Seal

i want to buy a complete 383 stroker kit (pistons, rods bearings, etc.) from summit but it comes with a 2 piece rear mail seal and i will have a 1 piece rear main block can i just buy another one piece seal to get everything to work properly or is more stuff different for 2 piece seal kits???????????????

novice engine builder here!

For some reason the one piece seal kits cost more. I've never investigated to find out why. Summit should have the parts. Try speedomotive or powerhouse if you want to shop around.

ok cause i can find the kit to match what i want but most seem to come with a 2 piece seal i was just wondering if i could just go out and but a one piece seal for the kit to fit my engine.

The "cheap" stroker crank cores are factory 400 parts, all of which were 2-piece rear main seal. Take a trashed 400 crank, turn the journals down to 350 size, now you have a 383 crank.

One-piece rear main seal stroker cranks have to be new castings/forgings. That'll cost you more.

The alternative is to get a two-piece crank and an adapter to use it in a one-piece block - about $100.

The flexplate/flywheel is also different between one- and two-piece rear main seal cranks.
