305 combo!!! need help
Hello,
I am using my 305 engine from an 89 RS Camaro. I was wondering if anyone can use their dyno desktop for this combo.
305 cu. engine
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
Holley 650 cfm avenger
stock heads
hooker headers
Edelbrock cam: @.050 Intake= 234 Exh=244
Anyways,if this is not enough information, I just want to make 350 hp and about 350 lbs. with the 305. I think my engine is an LO3 block. (1989 RS )

you'll be lucky to make around 250HP. sorry to dissapoint but you can make more power by porting your heads, or possibly buying new ones.
You're right in being that it's a L03 block and with that being said, you're heads probably wont be able to support 350hp (let alone 275hp). 350ft-lbs is a tough number to achieve also with a 305, but it definitely can be done. I'd recommend getting some decent heads and unless you've already got your hands on the cam you listed, try to get a better grind with the factory roller retainer pin. The Edelbrock cams aren't that great IMO.

I'd bet money you won't ever see even 250 HP out of any 305 that has those heads on it, no matter what else you do.
Start your build with a good set of heads. Without that, all else is futile.
That ancient grind is not a good cam for any kind of motor, but least of all for a 305. You have a roller motor. The best thing you could do is to use a roller cam in it. Once you've settled on a set of heads that will flow enough to support some reasonable horsepower level, pick out a cam to match their flow characteristics. Most likely the best head options will be either a set of 305 TPI heads (081 casting) with a good port job, or a set of World S/R Torquers; and a good cam would be a Comp XR264HR. That manifold & carb would be OK with those parts.

DD puts my 305 combo at 360 HP @ 6000 RPM. Notice the heads are Worlds and ported. The cam is 216/228 @ .050, .454/.480. Using the 1/4 MPH data and a conversion out of Hot Rod Magazine, it's estimated at 250 rear wheel HP.
The 350 ft-lbs is probably a bit much to expect out of a NA 305. I've never had a T5, but from what I've heard that's a little bit much to expect them to hold up to.
