What kinda stuff have you done with your motor out?

I will hopfully be getting a 305 for free soon and I would like to rebuild it and put it into my S/E.

Here's the deal. What kind of stuff have you all done with your engine bays while your motor was out?

I would like to repaint the S/E to black and the engine bay is currently the original "poopy" brown color. I too would like to paint it black.

Should I go with a flat, semi gloss, or gloss black? What other ideas can I do if and when my motor comes out?

Thanks guys,
bill

if the car will be show put a gloss color in the engine compartment if you just want it to look decent you can put a flat color. make sure its high temp paint.

i found that if you're not going to clean it everyday then using some grey primer first and a little sanding, then going to semi-gloss black does wonders for it. It looks shiney but not too shiney where it looks weird.

I say semi-gloss all the way.

As for me.....

Change the cam to a LT4 cam.
Paint the inside of the engine bay flat black.
Put a sheet of dynamat on the firewall. (I am a wuss when it comes to engine and road noise.)

Do mean to put a LT4 cam in the 305? I heard that changing the heads, putting a cam, and headers on the car will liven it up a bit. Oh and a new intake.

thanks for the tips so far....im leaning toward semi-gloss paint....
