Motor Swap
Motor Swap
I have a 91 Camaro RS it had a 305 TBI eng. E, I replaced it with a crate motor GM #12512151 Eng. 7 I also changed the injectors to 21lb. Everything hooked up okay runs good I still have orginal computer and prom for a 305. Idle is a little lower then before, I'm guessing the prom differance between a 305 and a 350.
Any suggestions on new proms. or leave it be. I would like to make sure I'm getting all my horses out of this new 350.

what kind of induction system are you using, tpi? The usual tbi injectors come in 45, 55, and 65 pph flavors. As always, its a good idea to get into prom burning after an engine swap. Youll never get the full 100% out of the engine if you dont. The stock prom is crap. I still have mine and i can tell you that first hand. Tell us some more about your combo and then we can make some more recomendations.

I'm still using the stock set up for air induction, the only change is a K&N filter in the stock air cleaner, stock TBI with GM 17112412
Injectors. These injectors are for a 1991 police car 5.7L TBI. They are mated to this replacement engine. according to GM.

im not too familliar with what part # coorespond to what engine but i assume your using the lo5 with the 65 pph injectors. If thats the case, you can just use the 350 knock sensor, knock module, and, if your car is an 89+, you can use the prom for a 9C1 cop car. That should be good for starters.
Has anyone had any luck trying one of those spacer plates that fit under the throttle body, for extra atomization which increases power. They work on the trucks because of the extra hood clearance, but I have'nt heard of one fitting under a stock Camaro hood.

I think you can fit about a 1/2" spacer under the throttle body and still clear the hood, but I'm not sure on that. I've read several posts in the past though that state the spacer was a waste of money. From what I've heard you don't need or want a spacer.
