Crate Motor-No where to put brackets
Crate Motor-No where to put brackets
When I installed my crate motor from scoggin dickey I had a whole bunch of little brackets and poles that where on my L98 motor but they won't fit anywhere on this motor. What are teh for and do I need them? Do the help with vibrations? Fort example there was one from the intake manifold to the alternator and one from teh steering pump to the block. There are several others but this new motor doesn't have mounting holes for these. I just left them all out, hopefully nothing bad happens

They hold stuff on.
You need them.
The bolt holes are there, they didn't fall off in the "crate" or anything. It's just a matter of identifying them. Except for the holes on the ends of the heads, the bolt holes on a SBC long block haven't changed since 1958, when they added the side motor mount pads.

In some cases people have had to tap holes in the heads. Not all though. should have taken pictures of your old motor with the accessories bolted up, to get a better idea now. If not you will have to re-do it yourself. good luck
