Which Wiring Harness MFG do you recommend for LT1 ?
I've looked at TPIS, Painless, and another Hot-Rod shop's wiring harnesses for my LT1 swap - all "about" the same price...
Which one is the best of the best? Which one does everyone recommend ?
Thank you!
Dean!

Unfortunately, you are going to get a bunch of opinions here including to merge 2 or so and make it yourself. Problem is, most people only try one brand and fully recommend that one. I have a Painless and looks like a very high quality harness. I will be putting it in along with the Lt1 and T56 in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know then about how it goes with their product.

Are all of your sensors/connectors labelled on your Painless?
TPIS' advertises that theirs are labeled and they use a better, more flexible conduit that makes swaps easier, etc etc...and some other nice marketing words...

Yes, everything is labeled. I called them one time and they were very helpful and prompt to answer. They have a toll-free number for technical assistance.

Well I said it a few times and I will say it again since it's worth it.
If you're ordering a painless, TPIS, accel or other type of wiring harness, you get exactly the same thing as the stock harness except the fact that each wire is labelled with a description and where it should be plugged.
also sonething you should think about, there isn't a charging and cranking harness with these kit , your stock harness does !
My suggestion is to spend that 500$ somewhere else, and just take the donor car's wiring harness apart, strip it down and remove unwanted accesories and make your own harness with a Service Manual.

You might want to look into this website:
http://www.lt1350.com/
I e-mailed Dana a while back. What these guys do is take your harness and modify it specifically for the car you want to install it in to make it easier for you. It's all for a pretty good price too, so get in touch with them if you are interested.

Here is an address to a company that I just sent my 3RD gen harness off to:

These guys seem all-right. I love thier project 91' Z28 with the 4th Gen engine, sharp car, and looks like it runs well with the times they have posted.
Just another choice for ya, hope it helps.

I am going to mod my stock LT1 harness my self.
I was actually thinking about buliding my own custom harness, since $500 is a lot of money just for some wires and connectors.
I'll let you know if the speartech harness is any good. My friends LT1 motor from them is coming on Monday or Tuesday.

Um, What exactly to you have to modify on the exsisting harness? I am buying a 1995 LT1/T56 to swap into my IROC, why can't i take the harness that comes with LT1 when i buy it and just use it as is?
I've talked to alot of guyz which have done the swap and it was my understanding that ya just drop it in, plug it in and go, with a couple very minor mods (VATs delete, etc.). But i havn't heard anything about the wiring yet.
Thanks Mike

LT1 nearly DEAD
Well that's it, my wiring harness is not fiaxable anymore , I screwed it big time, too many cables unhooked that I don't know anymore where to plug, my engine runs like crap and trowing knock sensor DTC 43 and DTC 26, I'm getting a new 93 harness, I paid 64$ on ebay for it ...
I will keep you posted with new details on wiring and I will take pictures and create a webpage so people will be able to create their own wiring harness.
