O2 Sensor question.... Need help ASAP
Hi guys.....
Well, my new motor is in with heddman headers and the guy welded an O2 fitting on the collector on the drivers side, but the wire is too short to reach. Can the wire be spliced, or would that be a bad idea on the O2 sensor?? Thanks in advance!!!!

I dont think you can splice the wire that is actualy connected to the oxygen sensor. You have to splice the part that is on the harness. I believe that the oxygen sensor uses the resistance of the wire attached to it for reference or something like that. Also, this way you wont have to do it everytime you have to replace the oxygen sensor.

I think Momar is right on this one. Another way is to get an extension harness. Call your header manufacturer or try and do a search of the web to see if you can find one.

Resistance of the wire... thats a new one.
Assuming the connection is good like its supposed to be, the resistance of the wire will be determined by the length of the entire wire, the location of the connector doesnt matter. There are plenty of 'universal' o2's out there as well, that you splice into your stock harness. Most are longer. I have my o2 in BFE comparatively on one car, it runs just like its supposed to with the longer wire in place.

Well, just to make sure, I spliced into the wire on the harness and everything seems fine. The motor is IN and RUNNING!!!!!! I am SO happy!!! My buddy fired it last night so I get to drive it this afternoon!!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!
