Upcoming LT1, 4L60e swap? :) What do you think? A few questions...
Current car:
1991 Firebird Formula
184,000 miles
Tired 305 TPI engine
700r4 just crapped out on me; changing the fluid finished it off....
I was going to find a decent 700r4 somewhere and swap that in, but then I got to thinking that I'll want to do the engine eventually as well... so I think what I want to do is go for an LT1 swap with a 4th gen auto transmission. Yeah, I'd rather have a 6-speed, but an engine/tranny swap is going to overwhelm me enough as I'm new to that sort of thing, so I'm going with the K.I.S.S. plan.
I have my eyes on this:
LT1 engine and 4L60e auto tranny from a 1994 Camaro Z28
82,000 miles
Engine comes complete as pictured including all belt driven accessories (alternator, pwr steering, a/c compressor etc) , ECM (computer), wiring harness, MAF Sensor, exhaust manifolds and starter. Transmission also included.
I may be able to get all this for 1800 bucks! Sounds like a good deal to me but what do you all think? I have reason to believe it's a reputable/trustworthy seller. Would I need anything else for the swap that I may be missing? Any special tips? Comments/suggestions welcome/begged for....

I am going to be doing an lt-1 6-speed swap soon, and so far I have found that the people here are VERY helpful. Try the sticky on the top of the topics page there is alot of info there(most of it elctrical related). Good luck on your swap.
I found a place that does really good head work and I think that before I put the lt-1 in my car I am going to send the heads to them and then have the motor rebuilt with a cam and some other goodies. I am hoping for something like 400hp and 380 ft/lbs. :lala: But I am not sure about that yet so I will see how things go.

Good luck...I just put an Lt1 and t56 in my 87 T/A. All in all, it wasn't very hard but is time consuming. $1800 is a bit more than I paid but not ridiculous as I've seen some going as high as $2500 with that kind of mileage. Feel free to ask any questions.

This LT1/4L60E was $4700 shipped. Came out of a 96 SS with 45K on it. Also came with a custom wiring harness and pre-programmed PCM.

When the motor arrived we changed most of the external parts with Vette parts.

Wow, sure is a lot more expensive than the one I looked at... but looks a lot nicer and has lower mileage too

You should be able to pick that up for 1600. Who is the dealer? If that is the actuall engine it looks clean. Since it is a 94 I would inquire about the optispark. You might be able to negotiate s few dollars off the price if it has not been replaced.
