2.8 to 2.8

I currently have an 85 2.8 with One Serp Belt on the Alternator to the crank pully, and then 2 V belts for the other stuff. It threw a rod, will not work. So I went to a pick n pull and pulled an 88 2.8 with one serp belt that goes to everything. Somebody already pulled the alternator, Powersteering pump, and distributer (all thats left of it is a big rod in a hole in the back of it). I have been told that its just easier to switch everything on the front of the 85 to convert the one belt to a multi belt system. The wiring harness I have for the 85 is melted and screwed up, and the 88 is in my garage and all the wires are cut. Do I buy a wiring harness for an 85 or 88 if I switch the belts, they seem to be the only diff. Anyone see problems with anything I plan on swapping?

Also, anyone have access to a scanner and a book with wiring diagrams for the harness, and wiring connector faces? My book says for wiring faces, turn to 370 or somethin, but my stupid book is missing pages, and stops at 340 or so.. grrr

Any help would be great!

THanks

also, I found a harness for like 170 at http://www.americancamaro.com/CAMAIN.htm
anyone know a cheaper one? Thats the best I have found...

all you should have to do is change the accessories over you should not have a problem... if you want a book with good detail, get a factory service manual (not the owner's manual) from Helm (800)-782-4356. It's expensive, however (roughly $90, ouch). 170 for a complete harness doesn't seem to be a bad price... considering TPI's run upwards of 300. Hope that helps.

My book I have that came with the car had a light blue cover with white stripes and it only said Service Manual for 1985 Camaro. Looked official, is it? The cover got ripped off though, it is in VERY good detail...

So I should go with the 85 wiring?

Thanks for replying! :hail:
