86 - 80 enigne.

I got a guy with a 1980 camaro with a v6 in it. I have no clue anything about that engine but i know its locked up. the body is perfect and he is selling it for $200.

I got a wrecked 86 v6 witch i just finished a 3.4 swap. well will the v6 from the 86 go into the 80???

or should i just rebuild the 80 engine?

Probably not. The Camaro probably has a Chevy V6.

Probably not. It costs as much to rebuild a 6-cyl as it does a V8.

the 3.4 is from a 86 camaro and it orginally had a 2.8. if i were to get the 80 camaro. how hard would it be to put 3.4 in it???

You'd have to find out what v6 was used in second gen Camaros. I can't say for sure, but I have a feeling they used a 3.8, 90* v6. The 3.4 would not be a simple drop in.

why would they use a bigger engine in 1980 and a smaller one in 1986 and a bigger one again in 1995?

Do a V8 swap, skip the V6.

Keep in mind that the 2.8, 3.1 and 3.4 are basically the same. That's why the 2.8 to 3.4 swap is so easy. As to why 3rdgens got a smaller v6, just a guess but it may have to do with the size of the engine bay. Recall that the TTA's used Lesabre heads so the 3.8 would fit.

Also it may have to do with the fact that many FWD GM cars at the time also used a 60* 2.8 v6. The only one I can think of that didn't was the N-body (Grand Am, Calais), which used a 3.0 v6 from 85-91.

I'd just go with a V8... those 2nd gen cars are elephants. A V6 will really struggle to move a mammoth like that. I'd just drop in a 350.
