tbi to carb

This probly been done many times but i have some questions.
1. Now i will take out my 305 and put a 350 in, will this miss up the speedometer?.
2. As for fuel line wise going from tbi to carb what will needed to be change.
3. And is there anything that i should be aware of because this is my first swap.
4. what about electrical, wiring harness, anything in that nature.
And if you have any other useful comments or info would be greatly needed

I would look into upgrading the TBI to work with the 350 or get an aftermarket TBI setup.

on this post I must disagree with wm_sorg. if you want to go fast at all (by fast I mean faster than 13's), loose the TBI. as for the rest, I can't answer the speedo question for sure. fuel lines I can. you will need to get a 3 port regulator and hook your factory feed line into its inlet port, then hook the factory retunr line into one of the outlet ports. the other outlet port will go to the carb. wiring is complex, basically removing all the computer controls and rewiring the fuel pump. you will need a non computer controlled iginiton, too. I am in the process of completeing this whole mess myself, so if you want some explicit details pm me and we won't have to use up board space. i have some pics of the fuel line set up too.

No problem Phil. Here is what I was think of:

or

I believe both will support high performance applications and will allow you to leverage existing hardware such as your electronic dist and fuel pump.

Either way this is good for comparisons sake. Depending on your goals you should compare the cost of TPI, Projection and carb systems.

Carb setup will probably cost around $600 for everything.
I went from a computer controlled Quadrajet to a carb setup a couple of years ago. Changed the intake, distributor, carb, and removed the computer and associated wiring.
I had a mechanical fuel pump on the block which made my swap a little easier since I didn't need to wire up the fuel pump and install a regulator.

TPI is also nice, but a little more pricey if you have to replace any sensors or gather up parts that might not have come with the TPI, and you will need a new fuel pump and there is a little more wiring involved.

I did both swaps on my car, and the TPI is really nice looking.

I am working on my LT1 swap now, so hopefully that will be done in about 6 weeks.

1. No, easy as that the spedo is through the trannys tail shaft
2. 3 port reg with stock fuel pump, or to the way i went is to go with a racing mech pump, block the return line, and drop the tank to remove the stock pump and put a hard line instead
3. put headers in (if so) before the motor, this will save you time. remember all the grounded wires to the block, plan on spending a great deal of time changing the engine mounts if you are, put a converter if you have the slightest idea of puting one in cause the engine already out, have a friend or yourself with another vehicle cause you might need a part or hard ware.
4. wiring harness, think very carefully of what you need and what you are getting rid of, I myself got rid of EVERYTHING, and rewired it all, but also i'm studing to be a electrial engineer so i know my **** and trust me you need to know your stuff about relays and **** or you will be stuck with lights and wipers and other acc. not working, or working half ***.
