1988 TPI setup onto 1985 carb block... possible?
I have a 1985 Chevy Caprice Estate wagon taht has a 305 carb engine... I am getting bored with just working on the 'maro (don't worry, I still will!) and was wondering if this setup I have laying around will work; here's my idea:
1988 Tuned Port Injection setup
+
1985 305 4 barrel engine
=
fast
Can I just swap intakes (of course the wiring too, but that is covered... Painless makes a conversion harness) and be done with it, or will the intake not fit/work on that block??
Thanks guys, without you I'd tear apart a car and be stuck!

"Fit" - yes.
"Bolt right on" - not quite. At the very least, you'll have to do something about the center two bolts on each side of the intake manifold. They changed angle in 1987.
You'll also need sensors, ECM, etc., but I assume you knew that.
"= fast" - We all have our dreams. It'll probably be faster with the carb after you fix the exhaust, cam, air cleaner, and head issues that really make the LG4 slow. TPI won't solve any of those (except possibly air cleaner).

Ok, so can I mod the intake or should I get different heads? I'm on a tight budget, but I'm tearing down my 1988 roller moter... it spun a crank bearing...
Can I possibly use the heads from it? It's the 305 TPI with the hotter stock cam...?
