Venting the Gas Tank
How or what's the best way to vent the gas tank after pulling the emissions off? I'm running a 355ci with the Holley Avenger 670, Edelbrock Air Gap Manifold, Headers, Crane cam, Trick Flow heads, and the problem I haven't figured out is how to vent the tank. Right now I poked an 1/8 in hole in the gas cap to relieve the pressure but I'm wondering if there's a better way. After taking the charcol cannister off and plugging the lines that feed it the tank will just build up pressure to the point that you have to be very careful taking the cap off.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks..

do not plug the lines to the cannister! Do not punch a hole in your cap!....Just adapt a filter to the vent line from your tank ( the original line that went to your cannister..or just leave the vent line open....

I have the cannister out but the lines are still there, though I do have them plugged right now. What type of filter should I use and should it be hooked where the line is for the cannister? I appreciate your input on this since it's been an issue I haven't resolved as of yet.
thanks.

if you follow the fuel lines at the wheel well you will see there are 3..1 feed..1 return..1 goes to the cannister...unplug that line..get a new gas cap, you need it to keep proper pressure. These cars need it. Try running with the line just open. if y0u get a fuel smell you dont like..adapt an open element, like a breather, to the line..easy as pie. I think this will solve your issue. Let me know how it turns out.

all the other lines to the cannister can go......just keep the vent line.. what kind of fuel system did the car have before the carb? Are you running the stock pump?

The car has always had mechanical pump on it with no other changes other than putting a higher volume pump on it for better pressure and then I put regulator between the pump and carb to get the proper fuel pressure.
I went out and put the cannister back on and put a different cap on the tank to seal it up. I hooked up the cannister as before except that right now the line that would of gone to the carb is now tucked down below the bottom of the car. Do you think that will be ok? The filter trick sounds good, and it would hook to the that line that is to come from the cannister to the carb? I'm not sure what kind of filter to use should I go that route. I'm going to go out drive the car today and see what happens.. Thanks, and I'll let you know what happens..

2. It would hook to the vent line that goes to the tank...BUT since you put the cannister back in you have no need for the filter. That is the job of the charcoal cannister, it filters the fumes, so to speak...
3. everthing should work ok now..

Venting gas tank
The re-hooking of the charcol cannister did the trick for me, thanks for all the input. That's one more small issue resolved thanks to this forum. There's alot of info out there if you just ask..
