What trouble am I looking at?

I have a 91 V6 with manual trans. Im sick of the problems im getting thrown at me with the current condition of the car. I noticed a 305 or 350 at the junk yard and it looks like it came in a 86 Camaro, not sure if its 305 or 350 however but I will go check it out and post more info then.

Basically my big question is since this motor is carbed is will everything fit? What special items am I going to need from going from a Fuel injected V6 to a carbed 305/350? Will all my accessories and will my radiator be okay? Am i gojng to need more vacuum lines?

Basically what I am scared of is routing
vacuum hoses and such, i realise if i get it I will need a V8 bellhousing and new clutch/flywheel and possibly tranny input shaft.

I have a cherry picker and its no problem to pull and put back in, if there is anything else I need to worry about with the information provided above let me know, I'll have more info on the motor later this week, thanks.

Yes, it is covered often.

You aren't changing an engine, you're transforming a car. They may look a lot alike, but the differences are numerous and deep.

Best way to do this would be to buy an entire donor car (not just the engine), and change over everything that's different. Everything.

The best thing to do is not to do this, but sell the car you've got and buy a factory V8-equiped car. You can learn from my mistake. No charge.

You're welcome.

BTW you need the whole transmission not just the input shaft. I tried putting an 8 cyl input into a 6cyl tranny- didn't work and fukt up the tranny (although that has more to do with me opening it up) ;(.

Weird, I thought the V8 T5's came with the same shell as ours, something different on them I don't know about?

It's like the car - the shells are the same, but the works are different.

Actually the internals are identical with one exception - gear ratios. The gear on the end of an 8cyl input (for a 2.95 1st) has 22 teeth. the 6cyl input (for a 3.50 1st) has 24. (it might be the other way around I don't rember offhand). The case and internals are the same but the input shaft can't swap - unless you find an 8cly input for a gear set that the 6cyl trans has.
