cam upgrade
I just bought a wrecked 88 formula 350 completely stock except for edelbrock headers and hi flow cat back exhaust. I am going to swap it into my 89. But first I would like to give it more power. I was thinking of putting in a more aggresive cam but didn't know which one is best to use. I am looking to get around 260-280 horsepower without spending a ton of money. Any thoughts or real experiences

Don't change the cam bro!!!
Swapping in a bigger cam, is synonomous with installing bigger rocker arms. They both provide additional lift, but with the rockers.... it's much easier to do!
I know guy's here from Raceway Park in New Jersey, who run stock 350's from their third generations (converting to CARB of course).... port match the heads, install thinner head gaskets (which raises compression), get three angle valve job's etc.
On the dyno (at the flywheel), their seriously pushing almost 380 HP.
It's all in the valvetrain, and you can attain these numbers without taking out the cam.... provided you tune it just right of course (matching CARB).
