I've been injured here for about 3 weeks and i've been thinking a lot about my car and i had this idea. I currently have a 305 TBI in a 1991 camaro. I was thinking that a ZZ4 would be a good idea. I was wondering if i could use my tbi and smog stuff and be CA emissions legal. I know i would need some chip tuning, but do you think it could be done. I need to be able to drive the thing every day. I know i will need to freshen up the TBI to make it flow that much. I was just thinking that that could be worth looking into. any help would be cool. Thanks a lot.

You can make that work. It will just castrate that ZZ4. I would do that to start with maybe. Then I would recommend going with a TPI setup and a Superram or Mini-ram instead to match the flow.

Also your 305 injectors will not work in the ZZ4 as it is a 350. I would also point out that the ZZ4 was designed for carbed applications and should get a different cam and probably heads to make it work right in a FI application. My $0.02.

I glanced at the cam specs on the zz4 briefly and i guessed i never equated them with a carbed application. I guess i have to figure out a better way to make power. I don't think it would be worth it to buy a crate engine that wil not really work. I was also contemplating working with the 305 TBI, i was thinking TPI swap then maybe a vortec supercharger. I was also thinking about building a 350 TPI that is capable of making some big numbers. I have thought about a 383 an LT1 and an LS1. I want to make about 270-320 HP so that the car will be respectable compared to a lot of other cars on the road and still be mild enough to be my daily driver. Any ideas or opinions would be welcome. Thanks a lot.

I would think the cam may work. I've seen many guys use the ZZ4 cam with a TPI setup. But I don't know about TBI.
