All opinions wanted: 383 build up or LT1 purchase?

Ok guys, here's the deal. I want to either build up my T/A with a 500hp 383, new tranny, new rear, fixed interior and exterior, and new full, dual exhaust. Should I do this? I am looking at spending between $10,000 and $15,000 and it will take a while because of college. I was also thinking maybe I should just get an LT1, preferably a 96-97 SLP optioned WS6 Trans Am. That would probably run me around $12,000. So what should I do? The LT1 would come complete and with not a lot of time gone, but it wouldn't be as fast. I would definately at least do bolt ons to the LT1, but nothing major at first. On the other hand, the 86 would be an awesome car; looks and performance wise. Even if I don't get an LT1 now, I plan on getting one in my lifetime. I love both gens of cars. My favorite looking car of all time is the 85-87 Trans Ams, and my second favorite is the early 4th gen, ram air Trans Ams. Ahhh, what to do? Thanks in advance, all coments welcomed and needed.
