If you do not already have the engine yet, I would highly recommend that you get you're LS1 engine from an F-Body, and not a C5 corvette....
The cost factor alone will save you major headaches, and it will also provide enough for you to make a good deal of modifications to the Camaro/Firebird LS1 engine.
Do you have the engine yet?

Ok, viperfan, i suggest you do some research before you get in way over your head.
The engine you are looking to swap is called the LS1. It is an aluminum block aluminum headed 346 cubic inch generation III small block. It is completly different than any other small block prior to '97. Problem is due to the different oil pan, the motor straight from the C5 will not fit in your '84 Z. GM put the same exact LS1 in the 98-02 Z28's and SS's, as well as firebird formulas, and trans ams. that is the motor you are looking for, it has the right oil pan to fit in your '84. It is virtualy the same motor. There is a full thread at the top of the page on how to swap a LS1 into a thirdgen. I suggest that you start reading there to find more information.
There is more info on the LS1 and LS1 swaps on this board than you can think of, so before asking questions use the SEARCH feature at the top of the page. It will save you a lot of headaches asking questions that won't get answered, because this questions comes up almost everyday.
