LT1 in a 86 IROC speedo question

I put the motor and the 6-speed in. My speedo is cable driven and the T-56 is electronic. What do I do to get it to work. Should I get a gauge cluster that is electronic from like a 90-92 or something. How would this work with wiring?

Thanks, FOO!

remove the VSS sensor from the transmission, install your old speedo cable/gear.

If only it was that simple....

JTR (Jags That Run) used to sell an adapter kit for hooking a cable drive up to a T-56, but they quit. It was about $300 IIRC. That might have something to do with it, maybe slow sales due to the $price$ kind of held the volume down too low.

I saw something in the Pace Parts catalog that was called a "cable x". It converts a speed sensor to cable somehow. There was a discussion on this a while ago. I think it was made by abbott something or other. A search will probabaly help you more.

ok I think the 93 was a question of removing the sensor and that was it, maybe it's different for newer T56

I know on a 94 speed sensor there is no actual gear. It looks like an ABS wheel sensor. I am pretty sure it is some sort of magnetic signal.

You will be better off converting to the newer dash cluster.
