Where to find 400 SBC?

Where can a 400 be found? What cars did they come in? Are there any kinds that are most desirable for a 500-600HP buildup? Whats the going rate and how hard are they to find?

look in 70 - 76 chevy full size cars, monte carlos, etc... not so much in high performance cars.... if you really want a list, pm me and ill get a list of the cars they came in...

i think you could get them in pickups/suburbans too... or you could wait til spring and check my engine bay...

there are a bunch of 400 threads here if you do a search - look for a 2 bolt block cuz the main webbing is stronger for 4 bolt splayed caps. look for signs of overheating like oil baked onto the lifter galley. don't forget to drill steam holes in your heads!

i paid $400 canadian for block/heads/crank/balancer/rockers, and both block and crank were std/std. i'd been looking for a realistic 350 block for a long time when i stumbled on these, but that could just be around here.

I found mine in the trader, they're in there all the time. I got a rebuilt complete motor for $500.
