Stand alone harness from Speartech. Mass air or Speed Density?

Which 1 would be the best to get? On a mustang, I know the Mass air would be the 1 to have. Is it the same for the LT1's?

Same for the LT1. You need to have MAF for optimum performance. John, is a smart guy. He can probably customize one for speed density if you really want to go that route.

I had already talked to him before I posted this and he said he could make it speed density if i wanted to go that route. Didn't know if that was the more popular swap or not. I will have a 96 harness so I guess thats mass air but I'm not sure.

96 uses MAF. If you have one you might as well use it.

If you plan on tuning your car yourself, go with Speed Density, otherwise go with MAF. MAF takes to mods better.
I am running speed density on my setup since I will be tuning my car and don't care for the MAFs.

Oh, and I have this cool air intake that I am going to run

That intake tube is from a semi truck. A friend of mine found it a few years back.

Zepher man your motor is looking sweet...

I would go with MAF... I have a 93 Speed Density motor and I am in the process of looking for a 94 up harness and an 8051 pcm so I can reprogram the stuff myself. (without burning chips)

You can actually switch to speed density mode with the MAF harness and not plug in your mass air flow sensor. (custom programming)

IMHO the speed density harness and pcm are not worth it because you would need to burn chips... unless you already have that setup I would go with the more easily programmed setup.

I would guess you would need $200-300 to burn your own chips with the Speed Density ECM, as opposed to $95 for the cable from AKM that will allow you to plug in and upload new programming to your PCM. Tunercat is like $80 with the bin you'll need, between the cable and tunercat you would be able to do whatever you needed for custom programming.

What is needed to do my own tuning? LT1 edit or something like that?

Zepher and J's T/A both look awesome.

You can run the 94-97 PCM as a Speed Density setup while using the 94-97 PCM so you can program it by flashing. That is the way I am going to do it.
I am going to use TunerCat to program my setup. Julian has LT1 Edit for his setup.
