LT1 Ignition Coil
Well here's another for the LT1 Guys, I went to start my LT1....no spark. There are some suspicious connectors on the coil module I think need to have wires going into....check http://www.geocities.com/clazarowitz/coil.html and tell me what you think, I got the 4 wire connector at the top but on the bottom....actually let me circle them. Yellow I know, red I don't.
Thanks

....Just all kinds of fun today lol. I have since noticed something else kinda weird. The D terminal of the ECM connector to the Ignition module has a *GREEN* wire in it which runs to a connector which I believe to be one of the *ABS* connectors!
Maybe I am wrong about it being an abs connector, but the wire color doesn't seem to match what the chiltons says it should be.
Also, if you could, There is a pink wire that my diagram showed as just going to the ignition module, not part of the ECM connector, that runs to the underhood fusebox. Could you verify its existance for me
I have been reconstructing this fusebox with inline fuses......probably shoulda just gone and found a real one, but oh well....

Yes, the connectors at the coil MUST have wires going to them. They are unique to the coil and wouldn't plug in anywhere else. You should have them laying around somewhere along the harness.

Well, here's what I got from the boys over at camaroz28.com It would appear as though I have a 1996 harness. The coil is one of the things that changed. So I did some legwork here today. I went to pep boys (I know....) who said they had the '96 coil....well turns out they did, but they didn't have the coil wire. I wasn't sure if that was the right coil though, so I went to a dealer. They showed me the proper coil, but again, they didn't have the proper coil wire, nor could they find the right part number. The problem was the secondary winding output on the '96 and newer coils has the same connector that the opti-spark has so you need a wire with 2 of them. The GM parts program showed the wire as being the old style one which had a spark plug head for a secondary winding output (Not sure if that has an official name or not lol) So, I am left with keeping my coil, but, the dealer says they can get the connectors for the old coil. When I pick them up tomorrow I will post part numbers. Also, just in case anyone wants them. I had some service manual pages photocopied, and then I scanned them. The have to deal with the ignition coil wiring. They can be found at http://www.geocities.com/clazarowitz...schematic.html Please download them and share them with others if it helps!
I'll post results as well tomorrow...
