i just bought a 83 z28 and i bought it for the engine it has a 4bbl 305. i have a 92 firebird with a 305 tbi. will the 83 305 work in my car if i put in intake manifold and tbi on. and does anyone know the hp ratings on a 83 305 z28 engine thanks. i looked it up and it said 190 but thats with a carb what would it be with tbi?

 

I think they changed the intake bolt pattern in 87/88, might have to swap heads also w/that. Have you done a compression check on teh "new" motor yet? Just making sure it's good before you start out on it.
Is the 92 engine that bad?

 

If the engine you have is the 5.0L HO, which is the 190hp engine, leave it as is and forget the TBI... the HO is a MUCH better engine if its got its 4bbl, and very rare in an '83 Camaro.

 

well i would leave it carb but i live in california and we have stricked emissons. i think its nothing after 88 can be carbed and still pass.i think.

 

I've heard they also pop the hood & check that shiz too
which is why KED85 made his 2.8-3.4 swap look exactly like the 2.8.
