I know I have seen a yellow thirdgen in several magazine articles with the ramjet 350 in it (I know it was on the power tour last year too). I think it was GMPD that did it too.
The plenum doesnt look any taller than an LT1 or TPI so I cant imagine why it it wouldn't fit. I can't imagine it is any taller than the Stealth Ram either. As far as the rest of the dimensions its still an SBC so unless they put some crazy oil pan on there I'd imagine it would fit.

I am considering the 350 Ramjet in a 1991 RS 305 TBI and wondering the same thing ie hood clearance problems or any other problems with this engine swap.
Anybody running this engine that can share any feedback on performance, etc.? Worth the $4,700!!!
Apparently, some sort of specialized fuel pump is needed.
Thanks
Matt

The Ram Jet engine does not utilize an oxygen sensor, and is not emissions legal in any car newer than about 1972. It should fit fine in a 3rdgen, but may get you in trouble with your local smog *****. Arizona Speed and Marine offers a kit consisting of an O2 sensor and a reprogrammed computer for the Ram Jet though.

Here's another to a Ramjet 350 installed in a Nova!

Since you have a TBI motor, you will have to buy an aftermarket
high flow fuel pump. It's not that bad. DON'T sweat the small
stuff! It's already a "custom" motor swap.
I am going to buy one of these motors myself for my 1991 RS
3.1 . I do not need any special fuel pump, if you already have
a 305/350 TPI or V6 MPFI motor. It uses the same fuel pressure,
feed and return lines, and the motor comes with it's own fuel
pump relay and instructions on the wiring setup. All you have
to do is splice in the fuel pump wiring that goes from under
the hood ( fuel pump relay wiring) to the tank.
I don't think that $4,700 is alot for a nice 350 fuel injected
performance motor. It's rated at 350 hp/400 ft. lbs. These
motors are capable of low 13s to high 12s. Depends on what
you run for gears, trans. ,etc. The motor comes truely complete
for the fuel injection. It's like $2,500-$3,000 alone for an
aftermarket fuel injection.
I don't think the hood should be a clearance problem. If it
is, I'll just get a cowl induction hood.
Here's what you'll need for YOUR Ramjet motor swap:
1.) new inline high flow fuel pump ( fuel pressure for the
Ramjet 350 is about 45-47 PSI, TBI is only like 12-15 PSI)
2.) new oil pan ( one that comes with the Ramjet
will not fit F bodies) I don't know if you can reuse
your 305 oil pan
3.) new pick up for oil pump ( to fit with the F body oil pan)
I think you can reuse everything else for the motor
( front engine accessories, motor mounts, etc.)
You can also reuse all of your existing gauges to splice in the
wiring for the motor.
4.)You MAY have to disable the VATS key
system, in order to bypass the old PCM ( computer for engine).
5.) You should get headers ( 1-3/4" primary recommended),
with Y pipe.
6.) Also will need ignition wires and spark plugs.
7.) A new 1998-2002 LS1 Throttle cable is needed
( or a Lokar aftermarket throttle cable may work)
8.) I recommend you get your trans. rebuilt with high
performance parts to hold the new power! Jumping from 175hp
to 350hp is a BIG jump! It will also improve the way your
transmission transmits power to the rear wheels! Higher stall
converter recommended! ( 2400-2800 stall speed).
I however, need to get new V8 motor mounts and brackets,
relocate the brake line on the crossmember, V8 tach, new
aftermarket speedo ( also swapping in a T-56), all new
serpentine drive belt system ( A/C compressor, alt., pullies, etc.),
oil pan and pick up screen. I am converting from an auto( slush
box) trans. to a T-65 manual. I need to do some modifying myself,
but the trans. alone can hold plenty of that hp and torque.
This is pretty much it. The rest is mainly splicing in the wiring
from the bulkhead connector to your gauge cluster. Then you
can either trash the old PCM and wiring, or sell it ( if you don't
break anything).
