can anyone help answer this ?
ok, i have a 92 RS and it has a 305, i know this guy who said he could get me a built short block 350 and supplement with parts from my current engine to put down about 400 hp, he said his friend did this to his third gen T/A and dynoed it at 417 hp at the wheels. he said total cost for him to do it is about 2500 including labor and everything. should i do this? i mean is there much further you're able to go from there because, call me crazy, but some day i want this car at like 700 hp or so, i know it'll take a while but it's worth it to me, anywho, any help would be great, thanks fellas

Lets see, shortlbock of the 350, little heads, about 15:1 compression, and a lopey cam that will have no bottem end, yes. but a street friendly with 400 hp with current parts, i think u are dreaming buddy.

400 TO THE REAR wheels is alot of horsepower to be kicking out for a streetable 350 with a all stock bottem end. It will hold up for a few thousdand miles and be done. As for heads, u will be more than likely looking at after market heads, alumin with a compression raito around 11.5:1 with a nice cam to run on pump gas, and a nice size holley duouble pumper or a hp series. remeber, there is no replacment for displacement.
