1971 350 block
I just bought a 350 block from 1971, don't know if its a car or truck. ANyway, just want to make sure that there are no major differences between old 350 blocks and newer 350 blocks. I know the dipstick tube isnn't in the same place. Anything else. It has a 383 stroker setup in it, and I want to either use the super-ram, or stealth ram and put it in my 91TA. ANy suggestions, and info on problems I may have would be great. THanks

I know its a 383, becasue my brother helped the guy build it a last year in school. I just want to make sure that a 1971 block will match up to my 91 4L60E, and so on. I'm almost 100% sure it does, but just wanted to see what you guys thought. Also want to make sure new heads will fit it. Vortec, fastburn, etc.

You have to get a new flywhell or flexplkate to mate the 2 piece rear main seal to a single seal tranny.

Wow. No one know a damn thing here.
THat might be a little extreme but there is alot of BS floating around.
1st off you do not have a 4L60E - you have a 4L60 more commonly known as a 700R-4.
2nd you do need a new flexplate but not for the transmission. Your current motor has a 1pc RMS (on the crank). THe 71 block has a 2pc RMS. The Flexplates are not interchangeable between the 2 diffrent designs. Use whatever Flexplate the motor had before.
