350 4 bolt main

I am planning a motor swap into my 1988 camaro, but I was wondering what kind of car or truck I would be able to rip a 350 4 bolt main out of? I would've liked to get an aftermarket block, but i'm still a fulltime student, so there isn't enough cash for that. I'd like to know what kind of car or truck that the 4 bolt mains came out in the most before I go looking in the local salvage yards. Any info would really help, thanks

I agree, stick to the heavy duty truck type stuff... more chance of finding one. Forget about all the BS you hear about Corvettes and 4 bolt mains (like you'd find one of those in a yard anyway... lol)

Could also get a 2 bolt block and have it machined for a splayed 4 bolt main kit. Its stronger than a regular 4 bolt setup, but prolly costs a bit too.

I agree your best bet would be a truck or van.I found a 79
chevy conversion van for 250 dollars which included a new battery
for my engine build/swap.I drove it fifty miles home pulled the engine and trans and junked rest.Rebuilt the engine and put it in my 84 camaro. If I had it to do over I would think about buying
that GM 350 4 bolt Universal replacement engine from GM Performace parts and put on some vortec heads.THe engine sells for around 1300 dollars.
