swapped 350
swapped 350
Swapped a 350 into my camaro, during the rebuild, the engine had a knock so I rebuilt the bottom end. One thing I didn't touch was the camshaft, it still has the stock cam in it, Is that something I should replace one weekend this winter or keep the stock in it? I would be looking to just have decent accelleration. It would have to be rather in expensive for me to swap it in since Im back in college since the summer is over.
When I rebuilt the engine, I rebuilt everything back to stock standards.

Yes I highly suggest you get a new cam. They sell complete kits for 90$. Decent cam, new, much better then stock. If you are willing to put out a little bit more money. 150$ you can get yourself a real nice cam but not sure if your heads can take the .525 lift, if they cant, go with summit!

not sure what my heads will be able to take, but will the 90$ cam make the engine run hot'er than normal? because with the headers and dual exhaust system the engine is running 5-10 degrees hot'er than normal.

Are you running too hot as of now? If so, a cam swap wouldnt be my first mod. If everything is fine, then the summit cam will not hurt anything. They range from 242/252 all the way up to 312/322.
Since they are probably stock heads, I doubt they can take .525 lift, i'd just be safe and go with one of the summit cam's.
Call up summit, tell them the year engine you have and what it came out of. Or post it on here and someone can tell you what cam will be best.

195 Isnt too bad, a little bit too high for a mild 350 in my opinion. I run around 200 which I'm not pleased with, but I also have a few mods done and not one thing to cool it down.
Give summit a call, and get one of those cam's, it is worth the money, itll really wake your engine up.
As far as reliability though, if this is your only concern, and you dont care about speed, a cam is not necessary.
