planning to tune up my engine
i have an 85 firebird 305, carb automatic...i was planning on fixing everything up on it, but i wasn't sure what to get...so i figured i'd ask the people who have had some experience with this...i wanted to replace the carb, intake manifold, cam, lifters, rockers, pushrods etc...i would like some suggestions on what would perform best, without having to rob a bank

Ya, while you're in there you might as well throw new bearings and rings in it. It only costs a few bucks and takes a couple hours (unless you're me and you find other things to do to it).
Here's what I would reccomend:
Holley 650cfm vacumn secondary carb
Edelbrock Perfomer RPM intake manifold
Comp Cams Magnum 1.52 rockers
Comp Cams Magnum pushrods
As for the cam I need to know what kind of drving you do, what rpm range you want for the motor, what kind of tranny, what stall speed, and what rearend gears you have. Then I can make a good reccomendation.

I'd look at Comp Cams XE256, or if you want to go the cheap route, a Summit K1102 cam which is 204/214 dur. Both those cams will be good for daily driving and will make plenty of low end tq.
