305 TPI to 350 Carb swap HELP
I have done alot of research on people swapping TPI to Carb but not really found the answer that I was looking for.
OK, right now I have a 1985 T/A with 305 TPI and a 700r4 and I know that the 85 ECM was the worst one and was not as relible as the later ones. I aslo know that I will lose torque. So right now I have a 350 TPI out of an 88 Formula and I'm planning on getting it rebuilt and converting it to a 4bbl and dropping it into my T/A (once I get the money of course).
So my qeustion's are:
1.Should I find a wiring harness out of a carbed T/A to install the new engine or is it easier to just cut up the old harness?
2.How valuble is my old TPI system (it workes fine) with the wiring Harness?
3. Just some opinions that you guy's think (mainly the guy's who have done the swap)
I am new to this so please bare with me.

I just swapped from TBI 350 to a carbed 350 but the swap should be the same as starting with TPI. I left my computer and harness all in tact. I left most of the stuff plugged in except for things like the injectors of course. All it took was a distributer, a carb, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with a return port. Everything went fine and works well. I also took the bulb out of the "service engine soon" light.
Have you considered just using the 350 with the TPI? Now that its cold out, I miss my fuel injection a little. It starts ok with the carb just not as nice as the injection. From what I've read on this board, most people lose around 3 miles per gallon but I've actually picked up a couple so it is just going to depend on your set-up. If you've done much research at all you've seen all the pros and cons to the swap.
