couple of ??'s

Ok i'm planning on building up a 350 that my buddy has laying around and i'm wondering it is like a late 70's truck engine and i want to swap my TPI over to it for the power so i was wondering if the 70's blocks have the hole for the knock sensor and will & if so how will a 89 TPI setup work on a pre 87 engine. And for the chip problem if i just went and got a 350 Hypertech chip i've seen on thunderracing will that work instead of replacing my entire ECM?

another ? i was wondering since i've heard from this board that if you put bigger heads then you need on that it will lower compression ratio so if i put smaller ones on it will raise compression ratio but would that also kill power????

It's been there since 1955. It's known as the coolant drain hole.

Depends upon the heads & cam you have.

Yes.

If by "bigger" and "smaller" you mean chamber size, larger = lower compression and smaller = higher compression. Higher compression won't necessarily kill power, unless you can't keep it from detonating with reasonable spark advance. Factory 350 L98 engines had 9.3-9.5:1 CR with 64cc chambers. 70's 350's typically had 76cc chambers, and the heads weren't very good for performance. Don't know what heads you have now, but either 305 or 350 TPI heads would be better to use than most any mid-late-70's 350 head.
